Jtsharpalmost 3 years agoBeing able to get across the CBD by car - Please consider how cars will flow from south to north
At the moment we use Lords Place as the main road to cross the CBD, this is because Peisley street gets congested at 3 places, the exit of the round about at Kite Street, the exit to Aldi and the merging of lanes outside the IGA. Anson street is avoided due to the raised pedestrian crossing and the entrance to Woolworths car park and Sale street has the entrance to both the Woolworths car park and the summer street car park causing congestion, so to cross at another spot when heading north east I would rather either go to Hill street or Lords place. I fear if you close up Lords place without making either Anson street or Peisley street flow better then we will have a series of frustrated drivers. At the moment Lords Place is the best "CBD" option for clear travel through. If you make changes, please think about how this will be impacted.

0 comment0wgillard-3hkcjj9almost 3 years agoKeep beautiful old trees & architecture. If you widen footpaths or close roads you MUST provide more close car parking. Do quality work!

There could be some life size murals of local identities or locations on Post Office Lane wall or other huge empty walls round the place or on sides of buildings. They could be historical photos blown up to large proportions. Orange has a lot of history.
0 comment1Chris Huckalmost 3 years agoLess cars more people
Summer St isn't the best place to eat outside because of the noise from cars and having a car start up next to you while you have a coffee with exhaust fumes isn't pleasant either. So if you want Lords Pl to be a outdoor food area you have to have less cars. (maybe centre rd parking like 1920s Summer St) A multi-storey on Ophir will be a good idea but it needs to be easier to cross Kite St. Otherwise nice wide footpaths and plenty of tress or garden boxes with seats. A nicer walk to post office lanes and McNamara St would be an improvement too. Build Multi-storey before you take any parking out of Lords Pl

Geminigail.almost 3 years agoSeriously. The biggest attraction in Orange is the wide streets. Leave them alone and concentrate on infrastructure (especially water).
Leave Lords Place (and all other streets) alone.

0 comment1Zacrugbynutalmost 3 years agoRestore the old theatre to its original form
You should reopen the old theatre and restore it to its original form and we could get a whole heap of old theatre and candy bar things.
0 comment2Jtsharpalmost 3 years agoRemove ALL the parking, add the eating areas there but allow traffic to still flow through with "drop off" lanes for people 2 moving lanes.
Like some schools have "kiss and drop" lanes, allow this so that you can drop off people but NOT park, this would then mean that you would only need one lane for traffic each way. The additional space can then be used for outdoor seating. When thinking about outdoor seating please be practical about it... we are in Orange - I have no doubt that you are thinking seriously about how that can work. We have lovely days throughout the year (even in winter sometimes) so outdoor can be well used on the right days.
0 comment0wwwalkeralmost 3 years agomore new shops with ecommerce
There are a lot of dead shops in Lords Place. It needs to be more attractive for shoppers and retailers with parking or clustering with similar shops to grow the area. Often two or three shops in similar trade help each other if they are side by side, e.g. food, clothing, office materials or outdoors shops. Ecommerce could help bring in customers from out of town.
